Maison Rocher is located a short 5 minute walk from Segur Le Chateau, one of France's 'plus beau villages'. Positioned up on the hillside this house is instantly charming. Filled with interesting traditional features, all lovingly restored. The interior compliments the external views with calming neutral tones, comfortable furnishings and a touch of style throughout. A one off home in a very unique location which is well worth a visit.
From the paved patio area and its open views of surrounding woodland, hidden chimneys and often a donkey or horse, you enter into the kitchen through bi-folding doors. The kitchen bright and airy, has a great dining table for socialising/admiring the view. The kitchen itself is newly fitted and comes with fresh modern appliances, providing everything you could possibly need.
Onto the first floor, accessed via the original staircase, you enter the very peaceful living room complete with wood burning stove for the cooler nights. The decor is calm and elegant without being fussy, the perfect place to curl up and read a book. The views really are magical from this room.
Off the living room you will find the master bedroom, a spacious room with calming colours, traditional features and a beautiful view. This bedroom has an adjoining 'Jack n Jill' bathroom so can be used as an ensuite but also accessible from the living room, which is quite a clever quirk. The door can be locked should you wish to use it solely as an ensuite.
Finally on the second floor you will find the second double bedroom, this bedroom is in the eaves of the house so has bundles of character - exposed beams and original masonry work are pride of place. It's cozy, inviting and provides everything you'll need for a good nights sleep!
Interior layout Ground floor we have a lovely modern kitchen, there is also a practical pantry area with another sink, washing machine and dishwasher. Also on the ground level you will find a modern bathroom with shower, the owners of this property really have thought of everything!
The first floor has cozy living room are and wood burning stove, The fireplace does have a fixed guard surrounding it meaning it's entirely child/dog safe, as are the stairs. There are baby gates on each of the floors for safety purposes. Also on this level the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom which is a good size with a a large modern shower and boasts a fantastic wallpaper choice!
Onto the top floor, there is a second light and airy double bedroom in the eaves of the house, bundles of character in this room and boasts open views.
Exterior The large patio area is where you will likely spend most of your time as it has direct access from the kitchen and see's the sun for most of the day however you can also find some shade under the well established lime tree and there are some lovely flower beds and herbs for your use. For the more adventurous there are grassy terraces below the front of the house where you can find many wildflowers and wildlife, or perhaps you will have the chance to say bonjour to the local âne or ânesse!
Sleeping arrangements This property has 2 generous sized double bedrooms. One on the first floor with ensuite bathroom, and one on the second floor, both accessed via stairs. There is a single sofa bed in the second floor bedroom, in addition to the double bed.

Maison Rocher is located a 5 minute walk from the 'plus beau village' of Segur Le Chateau which is steeped in history and is part of the Route of Richard The Lionheart and enjoys excellent night markets in the summer months. As you explore the streets you will also notice a rich and varied selection of smaller architectural highlights paying witness to past centuries such as the fountains and a cross. The Tourist Office and the Mairie can give you a map of the village with a suggested route to follow when exploring. Don't forget to look out for the small pottery figures hiding in windows and doorways dotted around the village streets. There are also a selection of good restaurants to choose from in the summer months.
Segur le Chateau is approximately 1 hours drive from Limoges Airport. Other airports that serve the region are are Bergerac (Flybe+ Ryanair), Bordeaux (Ryanair. Easyjet+BA), Brive-la-Gaillarde (Ryaniar) and Toulouse (Various).
To make the most out of your visit you will require a car not only because there is no public transport such as trains or buses which will bring you to this charming village but you must take time out in the car to explore the wonders of this region. Those who wish to drive from the UK, the journey time is approximately 8 hours from Calais.

My husband and I stayed in Maison Rocher for a week in February and we loved it. This house is the perfect holiday home. Peaceful, private and cozy. We loved the wood burner and the cool decor. The kitchen is fab, well equipped, spacious and has a lovely terrace off, we enjoyed having our morning coffee watching the donkeys in the field beside. Segur le Chateau is a gem, and Pompadour is really handy with great restaurants. We didn't want to leave and will be back. Thank you for having us.
