Beautiful home with pool and breathtaking views of the Dordogne countryside
This property will not disappoint - there really is something and somewhere for all to enjoy! Completed in 2009, this stylish house benefits from hi-tech insulation and heat recovery ventilation system, features impressive oak-beamed ceilings, has its own private swimming pool, decked garden area with glorious views and woodland walks. The property is not overlooked by any other houses so you can fully enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside.
The main living area is a perfect space for a social holiday and comes with a real touch of luxury. Solid wood floors and clever lighting make the space flow nicely, a top of the range contemporary kitchen (with every appliance you could wish for!) and a light filled comfortable lounge area with wood burning stove alongside a huge dining area with seating for 6. This ground floor area opens up to a wrap-around verandah, and directs you to the nicely decked pool area and peaceful outdoor seating spaces.
Also on the ground floor there are two well-sized bedrooms, a bathroom, plus utility room. From here you can take the stairs to the mezzanine level, currently used as a quiet reading space, and also to the spacious master suite with private balcony which enjoys views of the Dordogne countryside, as part of the master suite there is a luxurious modern ensuite bathroom.
There are many plus points to this property, it's homely and spacious, somewhere that you can all unpack and unwind, play games, swim, dine, read, spot wildlife and explore the area whilst walking the quiet country roads without a care in the world. We think you'll love it.

Cherveix-Cubas, lying on the Auvezere river and less than a kilometre down the hill, has two good restaurants, a grocery, boulangerie, boucherie, pharmacy, wine merchants and post office.
Less than 5km away lies Hautefort, with its architectural gem of a 17th century chateau and gardens. Under the castle walls you will find excellent restaurants, as well as more small shops. En route to Hautefort is a well stocked supermarket and petrol station.
The area is great for walking and cycling with rolling hills, valleys and woodland. Horse riding and canoeing is nearby, and hot air balloon flights and quad biking can be arranged. In the Auvezere valley, winding to the north, attractions include an old forge, a paper mill, and one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, Segur le Chateau. Segur has an excellent farmer's market on Monday evenings in July and August, a lively venue where you can enjoy a barbecue run by the villagers. A little further on is Pompadour, site of the French National Stud and a beautiful race course overlooked by a chateau - a fantastic spot for a Sunday at the races... perhaps after a Sunday morning at the street market which takes over the nearby town of Objat.
The region is of course renowned for its prehistoric caves, including the world-famous Lascaux less than 30 minutes away, as well as the geological wonders at Tourtoirac, just 7km from the house, with its extensive galleries of stalactites. Other caves in the area include one which is toured by train and another by boat on an underground lake.
The A89 autoroute lies 15 minutes to the south, and provides rapid access to the west coast and the wine region of Bordeaux, and to the east to the Auvergne in the Massif Central with its majestic ancient volcanoes and ski resorts.
The Portsmouth-Caen overnight ferry gives you a fresh start before the 6 hour drive on some of France's quieter autoroutes and the chance to take in the Loire Valley en route.
Alternatively take an early morning Eurotunnel which allows you to drive down via Paris and arrive late afternoon.
Fly to Limoges or Bergerac, both about 75 minutes away, with RyanAir and Flybe, or to Brive from London City with CityJet.
Or enjoy a rail trip on the Eurostar and TGV from London St Pancras to Limoges via Lille or Paris...

This is a hidden gem of the Dordogne countryside, peaceful, private, and within easy reach of any amenity you might need, particularly the local artisan boulangeries! Close by are the spectacular Hautefort chateau and Lascaux caves, and many lovely cafes, bars and restaurants. We had six staying, the adults loved the veranda and upstairs balcony, and the kids loved the private pool, but the house could have taken more, it is very open and spacious with a kitchen which is a holiday chef’s dream. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome, answer questions and share their local knowledge. We would definitely love to come back here.

Marie

Joni was so kind and reactive when I asked her some questions about the house.
The house in reality is like the house on the photos ... AWESOME
There is EVERYTHING in it : crockery, food (oil, vinegar, simple things, you have to get the groceries of course), towels (for your bath, not for the swimming pool), sheets etc...
if you have any questions just ask to her.
You just feel all alone because there is no house close to. But if you want to visit some cities, you will have to drive a little bit.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING JONI

Absolutely spectacular
'Mouchat' is a beautiful home, brilliantly appointed, close to everything you might need and very comfortable - we rented it for a week to spend with family celebrating an 80th and a 40th birthday party - having rented a number of places over the years I have to say that Mouchat is by far the best equipped home we've every stayed at - everything has been thought of to ensure a comfortable and worry free stay - from arrival with the comprehensive book telling us about the home and the surrounding areas to the living spaces both indoor and out that ensured everyone had sufficient space to enjoy the days and long evenings. I would highly recommend this home to rent and would certainly consider renting it again if needing a place in the area.
